"This Park is Not For Football, Maybe For Cassava Plantation" - GoldStars Coach Petros Koukouras Slams Debibi Presby Park After Defeat

Bibiani GoldStars head coach Petros Koukouras has launched a scathing attack on the state of the Debibi Presby Park, following his side's 1-0 defeat to Debibi United on Matchday 8 of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, the Greek tactician said he was relieved that none of his players picked up an injury on what he described as an unplayable surface.

"I don’t think Debibi Presby Park is for football, maybe for cassava plantation," Koukouras fumed.

"...I’m very happy that none of my players has been injured in that game."

Koukouras is not the first coach to criticize the venue this season.

Former Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler, now with Durban City, also raised concerns about the pitch after his side’s 2-2 draw there on the opening day of the league.

"The pitch is hard and it starts to affect your calves, your thigh, your hamstring," Tinkler said in his post-match press conference.

"The pitch is heavy, the pitch is thick... the pitch is the widest and the longest I have seen in every league I have coached in," he added.

The Debibi Presby Park, which serves as the home ground for newly promoted Debibi United, has come under intense scrutiny from visiting teams over its hard surface and dimensions.
