Former international Laryea Kingston has declared his interest in the vacant Ghana head coach position, pointing to his historic success with Uganda's youth setup as proof of his managerial credentials.
The Ghana Football Association is under mounting pressure to appoint a permanent manager to navigate the remainder of a difficult Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Kingston, who previously managed the Ghana Under-17 team before taking charge of the Uganda junior sides in late 2025, believes he is now equipped for the senior role.
"I feel ready to reach the top with the senior national team," Kingston said.
"My strengths have evolved from development to management. I understand how to manage both individual players and the group as a whole. If given the opportunity, I'm ready."
The 45-year-old's managerial stock has risen significantly over the past 12 months.
In May, he led the Uganda Under-17 team to a historic penalty shootout victory over Ghana, securing the nation's first ever appearance at the Fifa U-17 World Cup.
