Ghana Premier League: Ibrahim Tanko Reacts After Medeama's 2-1 Defeat to Samartex: "It's a painful defeat"

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has described his side's 2-1 loss to FC Samartex as painful after their unbeaten run came to an end at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Speaking after the Matchday 7 Ghana Premier League clash on Saturday, Tanko gave a general assessment of the encounter.

"It was a very tough game from the beginning as both teams were very careful in early minutes of the game," he said.

Tanko also explained the thinking behind his second-half substitutions which briefly paid off.

Medeama were a goal down when he introduced Dominic Amponsah and Babil, a move that brought the equaliser.

"We [technical team] saw the need to make changes when we were a goal down, and that's why we brought in Dominic Amponsah and Babil. Fortunately Dominic scored the equalizer," Tanko explained.

Despite the late fightback, Samartex snatched a 90+2 minute winner through Christopher Agyenim Boateng to end Medeama's six-game unbeaten run.

It's a painful defeat," the Medeama coach admitted.

Looking ahead, Tanko insists his side will refocus quickly as they prepare to host Aduana Stars in their next Ghana Premier League fixture.

"We'll take every match seriously, though we didn't come here[Samartex] to lose so we're going to prepare very well as we face Aduana Stars in our next game."

Medeama remain top of the Ghana Premier League table with 15 points despite the loss.
