Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Port City at the University of Ghana Stadium, ending a three-game winless run in the Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians struck early through Frank Abora Duku, who scored in the 20th minute to secure all three points in what head coach Nebojsa Kapor described as a "serious war on the ground".
It was a much-needed victory for the Accra giants, who had been struggling with injuries in the build-up to the Matchweek 6 fixture.
Speaking after the game, Kapor praised his players' mentality and resilience.
"Really, I am very happy because of my players," he said.
"We faced a lot of problems during last week with injuries, but really, we came here, we didn't expect a nice game. We expected a serious war on the ground and really we responded well.
"We scored an early goal. After this... we didn't control the game. After, we tried to achieve stability... but the most important for us is we won three points, and I'm also sure some players will come in squad and that will be a better situation for us."
The result brings relief to the Hearts camp after a frustrating spell that saw them go three games without a win.
"We are all unhappy because of our three games before this game, but also this is a very important thing from the mentality side," Kapor added.
"Players really responded well in a lot of situations. They showed on a lot of occasions a very strong mentality and I am sure on this we can build something what we need in the rest of the season."
Duku's early strike proved decisive as Hearts of Oak held on to their first-half lead despite failing to control large periods of the second half, showing the defensive stability Kapor had called for.
The win moves Hearts of Oak back into contention, with Kapor hopeful that returning players will strengthen the squad in the coming weeks.
Hearts of Oak were part of a clean sweep for home sides on Sunday, with all eight home teams winning their Matchweek 6 fixtures.
