Ghana vs Gambia: Black Stars Vow to Bounce Back in AFCON Qualifiers After Ivory Coast Setback

Ghana's 2-0 loss to Côte d'Ivoire on September 24 in Bouaké tipped the historic head-to-head record slightly in favor of the Elephants, who now boast 16 victories to Ghana's 15.

Head coach Carlos Queiroz, however, boldly predicted that his side would level the tally in the return fixture.

"We're going to draw. When Ivory Coast comes to play Ghana, we're going to win, so it will be 16-16," Queiroz asserted.

The manager refused to let the opening-day defeat cast a shadow over his squad, emphasizing that the result would have no negative impact on morale.

With the demanding AFCON qualifiers schedule leaving little time to dwell on setbacks, Queiroz immediately pivoted focus to the next challenge: a crucial home fixture against Gambia.

"For us now, it is just recovery," Queiroz noted. "Prepare the players to win the next game at home. This result will not affect our morale and our beliefs in our players."

By projecting absolute certainty in his squad's ability to bounce back, Queiroz set a resilient tone as the Black Stars look to secure their place at the 2027 tournament.
