FC Samartex have the opportunity to extend their unbeaten start to the Ghana Premier League season when they welcome relegation-threatened Young Apostles on Sunday.
The home side, who sit third in the table, have collected eight points from their opening four matches.
By contrast, Young Apostles make the journey languishing in 17th place, having suffered three defeats since the start of the campaign.
Contrasting fortunes
Samartex began their season in formidable fashion, securing a 3-1 home victory over Karela United before edging Aduana Stars 1-0 on the road.
However, their early momentum has been slightly checked following consecutive 1-1 draws against Asante Kotoko and Swedru All Blacks.
Despite dropping points, they boast a resolute defence, conceding just three goals this term while scoring six.
Young Apostles, meanwhile, have struggled at both ends of the pitch. The visitors have conceded eight times and managed to score only twice.
Their solitary victory—a 1-0 home triumph over Basake Holy Stars in mid-September—was surrounded by heavy 3-0 defeats to Vision and Debibi United, alongside a 2-1 loss to Heart of Lions last time out.
Head-to-head
Recent meetings between the two sides suggest a tightly contested fixture, with home advantage often proving to be the deciding factor.
During the 2025-26 season, both clubs recorded 2-0 victories on their respective home grounds.
However, Young Apostles will draw encouragement from their visit to Samartex in November 2024, where they secured a narrow 1-0 away win.
