Jordan Ayew First Start: Chris Wilder Praises Black Stars Captain After Sheffield United Win at Bristol City

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has praised Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew following his first start for the club in their 1-0 away victory over Bristol City in the Championship.

Ayew, who had previously featured from the bench since joining the Blades, was handed his first start at Ashton Gate and delivered an impressive display before being substituted in the 69th minute.

“I was delighted with Jordan Ayew. His performance was really good. He allowed us to go and press and get after them,” Wilder said.

The decisive moment came early, in the 5th minute, when goalkeeper Michael Cooper's goal kick was headed out by a Bristol City defender, only to land in front of Oliver Arblaster just outside the 18-yard box. Arblaster met it with a thumping volley to give the visitors the lead.

Ayew's work rate and pressing from the front proved crucial on the road, allowing Wilder's side to impose themselves and see out the victory away from home.

The result lifts Sheffield United to 11th in the table with 15 points after Matchweek 11.
