The road to African club football's biggest prizes is now set after the Confédération Africaine de Football conducted the group stage draws for the 2026-27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
The draw, held on Wednesday, 28 October 2026 at the Egyptian Football Association Headquarters in Cairo, saw the 32 qualified clubs - 16 in each competition - discover their opponents.
The action will now shift to a two-day CAF Clubs Workshop, scheduled for Thursday, 29 October and Friday, 30 October in Cairo. The workshop will bring together club representatives to address key technical, administrative and operational requirements ahead of the group stages.
CAF says the sessions will cover competition regulations, match organisation, refereeing, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) procedures, anti-doping, commercial regulations, television production, digital activities, media operations, stadium safety and security, and disciplinary matters.
It forms part of CAF's efforts under President Dr Patrice Motsepe to improve professionalism and financial sustainability.
That financial commitment was underscored with confirmation of record prize money. The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League winners will receive USD 6 million, while Confederation Cup champions will earn USD 4 million. CAF will also provide USD 100,000 to clubs eliminated in the preliminary rounds to assist with travel and logistics.

Group B: Zamalek SC, Young Africans, MC Alger, Club Africain

Group B and Group C are already being billed as the toughest, with Zamalek, Young Africans and MC Alger colliding, while RS Berkane, Simba and Orlando Pirates will battle in Group C.
