Björkegren, Tanko and Attram named by five-member committee for Somalia games

Ghana's interim technical team for the Black Stars' November fixtures will be led by Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, supported by Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram.

The trio were named by the Ghana Football Association's five-member coaching search committee tasked with appointing a permanent successor to Carlos Queiroz.

The Swedish coach will take charge of the Black Stars on a temporary basis for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Somalia.

The GFA confirmed on 9 October that an interim team would oversee the November window to allow the search committee more time to complete its work. The committee, chaired by former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe, has extended its recruitment process until November, with the application deadline set for 15 October.

Björkegren will be assisted by Medeama SC head coach Tanko and current Black Stars assistant Attram for the home-and-away matches scheduled between 11 and 14 November.

Queiroz departed on 1 October by mutual consent after Ghana lost their opening two Group C qualifiers - 2-0 away to Côte d'Ivoire and 4-2 at home to The Gambia - leaving the Black Stars bottom of the group.

The interim appointment comes as Björkegren balances his existing role with the Black Queens, who face intercontinental play-offs for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup shortly after the November window.
