Olympics 2028 Qualifiers: Black Queens thrash Mauritius 3-0 in first leg

Ghana's Black Queens have taken a commanding lead in the second round of qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games after a 3-0 victory over Mauritius in the first leg.

Abigail Kim, Alice Kusi and Benedicte Simon were on target for Ghana, who dominated the away fixture and now hold a three-goal advantage heading into the second leg.

Kim opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Kusi doubled the lead eight minutes later to put Ghana in control.

Simon sealed the win with a long-range strike in first-half stoppage time to give the Black Queens a comfortable cushion at the break.

Mauritius improved after the interval but failed to find a breakthrough as Ghana held firm to secure the clean sheet.

The result leaves Ghana well placed to advance to the next round of the African qualification campaign for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The Black Queens will host Mauritius in the return leg on Tuesday, 13 October in Ghana, where they will look to finish the job and progress.
