Felix Afena-Gyan was the hero for Igdir as the Ghanaian substitute scored a late winner to secure a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Bandirmaspor in the Trendyol 1. Lig.
The forward replaced Alperen Selvi in the 59th minute at the 17 Eylul Stadyumu in Balikesir with his side trailing and facing an uphill battle.
The visitors had earlier squandered a chance to take the lead when Alim Ozturk failed to convert a 42nd-minute penalty, and they were punished four minutes into the second half when Gianni Bruno put Bandirmaspor ahead.
Igdir's plight worsened when Leandro Bacuna was sent off in the 64th minute, but the visitors responded immediately through Giovanni Crociata, who levelled just two minutes later.
With momentum restored, Afena-Gyan completed the turnaround in the 84th minute. After an Igdir free-kick glanced off a Bandirmaspor head, fellow substitute Arda Ozturk nodded the ball into the path of the Ghanaian, who planted a downward header into the turf that bounced into the net to snatch all three points for the 10-man visitors.
The decisive strike takes Afena-Gyan's tally to three goals and one assist in the Trendyol 1. Lig.
