OFFICIAL: Jordan Ayew Joins Sheffield United As 8th Club Since 2009

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has officially joined English Championship side Sheffield United, marking the 8th club of his professional career since his debut in 2009.

The 34 year old has signed for the Blades as a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season. Sheffield United have confirmed his arrival after he completed the necessary paperwork.

This move becomes Ayew’s 8th club as a professional:

2. Lorient - loan
3. Sochaux - loan
4. Aston Villa
5. Swansea City
6. Crystal Palace
7. Leicester City
8. Sheffield United - 2026

It is over 16 years of top level football for the Ghanaian forward, who started his European career at Marseille before moving to England in 2015.

In the 2025/26 season, Ayew made 42 Championship appearances for Leicester City, scoring six goals and providing three assists.

Sheffield United beat competition from Blackburn Rovers and APOEL Nicosia to secure his signature. He will be unveiled officially on September 11, his 35th birthday.

The move is also good news for the Black Stars. Ayew, who captained Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, will lead Ghana again for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Cote d’Ivoire on September 24 and The Gambia three days later.
