Hearts of Oak fight back to beat GoldStars to go top as Asare saves late penalty

Hearts of Oak moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after coming from behind to secure a 2-1 win against Bibiani GoldStars.

The hosts took the lead in the 11th minute when Kwame Opoku headed in from Michael Nkoah's cross.

The Phobians responded after the break with two goals in the space of seven minutes. Yaw Amankwah Baafi levelled the score in the 52nd minute before Henry Kweku Boateng completed the turnaround three minutes later.

Bibiani GoldStars were handed a chance to equalise late on, but goalkeeper Benjamin Asare saved Richard Kortey's penalty in the 90th minute to preserve victory for Hearts.

The result means Hearts have now scored six goals in their opening two matches this season, having thrashed Berekum Chelsea 4-0 on matchday one. It is a significant improvement on last term, when it took them until matchday seven to reach the same tally.
