Hearts of Oak handed injury boost as Kapor provides update on Banso
Hearts of Oak have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their Ghana Premier League Matchday Three fixture against Bechem United.

Head coach Nebojsa Kapor has revealed that midfielder Alex Banso is expected to return to the squad sooner than initially feared.

Banso picked up an injury during the warm-up before last weekend's 2-1 away victory over Bibiani Gold Stars, forcing the technical team into a late change to their starting line-up.

Kapor admitted the setback affected his side at the start of the game.

"That I'm sure also affected us in the beginning because you have a plan and you are changing this because of the worst thing in football," Kapor said at his pre-match press conference.

"Injuries are something nobody wants. Because when players were aware of what was going on, I'm sure all of us were a little bit disappointed, not a little bit, we were disappointed. Then I'm sure that affected the opening of the game."

The Phobians went on to show resilience to secure all three points in the derby and maintain their perfect start to the season.

Kapor says the latest assessment from the medical team is positive.

"Luckily, from the medical team, we can expect Alex Banso very soon in the squad because his injury is not like what we expected," he added.

"Let's wait a small bit for the full picture from the medical team, but the assessment is so far okay, and I'm sure he will be with the team faster than we expected in the first moment."

Hearts of Oak host Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, 20 September at 15:00 GMT, looking to make it three wins from three.
