Ghana squad: Who is Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor? Age, club, stats of Queiroz's new Black Stars

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has handed first senior call-ups to Jan Gyamerah and Ronald Donkor for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The two debutants are the only uncapped players in the 24-man squad to face Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia, offering a blend of experience and emerging talent.

Jan Gyamerah: Experienced Bundesliga defender

Gyamerah, 31, brings considerable experience to the Black Stars' defence.

Born in Berlin, the right-back plays for SV Elversberg and has spent his entire career in German football. The 1.84m defender recently played the full 90 minutes against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, underlining his readiness for top-level football.

His inclusion provides immediate depth at right-back for Queiroz.

Ronald Donkor: The rising MLS midfielder

Donkor, 21, represents the next generation of Ghanaian midfielders.

The central midfielder, born in November 2004, plays for New York Red Bulls in Major League Soccer where he has become a regular starter.

He arrives in camp in good form after scoring an 89th-minute winner against Columbus Crew on 12 September. Known for his energy and passing range, Donkor has logged full 90-minute performances consistently in recent weeks.

Both players will be hoping to make their senior debuts when Ghana open their qualifying campaign against Côte d'Ivoire on 24 September before facing The Gambia five days later.
