Accra, Ghana
— Carlos Queiroz will continue as head coach of Ghana's Black Stars after agreeing a new deal with the Ghana Football Association.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on Wednesday that the 73-year-old Portuguese will lead the team into the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Queiroz had initially joined on a four-month contract in April, replacing Otto Addo for the 2026 World Cup.

His original mandate expired after the tournament in which Ghana progressed from Group L - beating Panama, drawing with England and losing to Croatia - before exiting in the last 32 with a 1-0 defeat by Colombia.

"The Ghana Football Association is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Carlos Queiroz for his appointment as head coach of the Black Stars for the next phase of the team's programme," the GFA said in a statement.

It added: "Following discussions with the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, it was agreed that Carlos Queiroz would embark on a new coaching mandate, commencing with the upcoming international window."

Queiroz has previously managed Portugal, Iran, South Africa and Colombia at international level, and has had spells as assistant manager at Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The GFA said further details on the length of his new contract will be announced in due course.
