Accra, Ghana—Carlos Queiroz has accepted to coach the Black Stars again, describing leading Ghana as a "privilege, responsibility and mission" after confirming he will remain as head coach.
The 73-year-old, who joined on a short-term deal in April, has been retained by the Ghana Football Association following Ghana's run to the last 32 at the 2026 World Cup.
In an open letter to fans on Wednesday, Queiroz thanked Ghanaians for their support and outlined his vision for the next phase.
"It is with immense pride and honour that I confirm my continuation as Head Coach of the Black Stars of Ghana," he wrote.
"Serving Ghana is far more than coaching a football team. It is a privilege, a responsibility and a mission to honour one of Africa's greatest football nations and its incredible and passionate football people."
Queiroz said he was proud of the courage and discipline shown by his players in "challenging circumstances" at the World Cup, where Ghana exited after progressing from Group L ahead of a 1-0 defeat by Colombia.
Looking ahead, the former Real Madrid and Portugal boss said the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations would be a stepping stone towards a bigger target.
"The Africa Cup of Nations is much more than our next destination - it is the golden gateway to building the Black Stars that will shine and proudly compete at the 2030 FIFA World Cup," he said.
"Our ambition is clear: improve every day, unite the nation, make Ghana stronger and fight for every victory with passion, humility and pride.
"One Team. One Nation. 35 Million Hearts. One Heartbeat."
The GFA is yet to announce details of Queiroz's new contract or the length of his second stint in charge.
Queiroz replaced Otto Addo in April and will now lead Ghana into the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
