AshantiGold 3-1 Vision FC: Gyamfi Jnr hat-trick marks perfect Premier League return for Obuasi

Premier League football returned to the Len Clay Stadium for the first time in over four years and it was marked in style as 23-year-old midfielder David Gyamfi Junior scored a hat-trick in AshantiGold's 3-1 win over Vision FC.

It was an historic afternoon in Obuasi as the Ghana Premier League made its long-awaited return to the city, and the hosts ensured it ended in victory.

AshantiGold started brightly and took the lead after seven minutes when Gyamfi Junior finished from Amakye's assist.

Vision FC levelled in the 29th minute through a fine free-kick from Mohammed Sheriff.

The parity was short-lived. Gyamfi Junior restored AshantiGold's advantage in the 36th minute before completing his hat-trick on the stroke of half-time to make it 3-1.

The second half saw Vision FC push for a way back into the contest, but AshantiGold held firm to secure a memorable win on their return to top-flight action at home.

It is a result that marks a perfect homecoming for the Miners after more than four years without Premier League football in Obuasi.
