Sulemana and Anor Score As Medeama SC Defeat Nations FC to Lift Champion of Champions Cup

Medeama SC players celebrate winning the 2026 Champion of Champions Cup

Medeama Sporting Club have lifted the 2026 Champion of Champions Cup after a 2-0 win over Nations FC at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday.

The Ghana Premier League champions struck in each half to secure the season's curtain-raiser ahead of the new domestic campaign.

Medeama opened the scoring in the 28th minute from the penalty spot. Sulemana kept his composure to convert after the referee pointed to the spot, giving the hosts a deserved lead at the break.

Nations FC, who qualified as MTN FA Cup holders, pushed for an equaliser after the interval but were caught out on the hour mark. Emmanuel Anor - who completed a move from Nations FC to Medeama this summer - doubled the advantage in the 61st minute with a clinical finish against his former club to seal the trophy.

The victory provides a perfect start for coach Ibrahim Tanko's side, who are preparing to defend their league title and begin their CAF Champions League campaign against TP Mazembe next month.

For Nations FC, focus now turns to their historic CAF Confederation Cup debut against Mali's FC Diarra.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season is scheduled to kick off from September 4-7.
