The celebration has been cut short. On Monday, August 24, 2026, officers from the Ghana Police Service's Documentation and Visa Fraud Unit arrested Kailani in East Legon, Accra. Authorities allege he collected over $30,000 from more than 13 individuals under the guise of securing visas and travel to Canada, the United States, and Nicaragua.
When the promised trips failed to materialize, he reportedly became unreachable and went into hiding before police tracked him down.
On Wednesday, August 26, the once boisterous fan cut a different figure as he was escorted into Accra Circuit Court 9 wearing a face mask and a green hoodie. He was granted strict bail conditions set at GH¢400,000 with three sureties. The court directed that one surety must be justified, and the other two must be close family relatives.
Adding a twist to the developing story, Kailani's past financial pleas have resurfaced online. Throughout the tournament, he claimed his trip was entirely funded out of his own pocket.
