2026/27 Ghana Premier League Fixtures Released: Key Dates, Opening Weekend and Matches to Watch

Football doesn't wait. One season ends, another begins. With the release of the fixture list, hope returns to every dressing room in the country.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially unveiled the fixtures for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League, setting the stage for another campaign of fierce rivalries, unforgettable moments, and the race for domestic supremacy. The new season will kick off across September 4–7, 2026, with clubs embarking on a 34-match journey before the final round of fixtures is played between May 28 and 31, 2027.

Every fixture list tells a story long before a ball is kicked, revealing the road every club must travel. Some clubs are handed favourable starts, while others must navigate a challenging opening stretch that could shape the early months of their campaign.

First Five Matchday 1 Fixtures (Sept 4–7, 2026):

  •  Dreams FC vs. Medeama SC
  •  Debibi United vs. Asante Kotoko
  •  Hearts of Oak vs. Berekum Chelsea
  •  Heart of Lions vs. Aduana FC
  •  Basake Holy Stars vs. Swedru All Blacks

The opening weekend already offers several intriguing encounters. Reigning champions Medeama SC begin their title defense on the road against Dreams FC. Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko travel to face Debibi United to kick off their campaign.

Hearts of Oak welcome Berekum Chelsea as they begin yet another ambitious quest for domestic league success. Furthermore, Heart of Lions hosting Aduana FC and Basake Holy Stars taking on Swedru All Blacks stand out as major highlights among the other Matchday 1 fixtures.

As the weeks unfold, supporters can look forward to some of Ghana football's biggest rivalries, including the return of the Ashanti derby between Asante Kotoko and FC AshantiGold. Regional bragging rights will once again be on the line across the country, but attention will inevitably turn to the league's most anticipated fixture—the Super Clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The first meeting between the two giants is scheduled for Matchday 13 (December 4–7, 2026), with Asante Kotoko hosting Hearts of Oak. The return fixture will be played during Matchday 30 (April 30–May 3, 2027), when Hearts of Oak welcome their old rivals.

Beyond the glamour fixtures lies the true test of every Premier League season. There are thirty-four grueling matchdays to endure. Teams will face months of travel, momentum swings, and intense managerial pressure.

There will be unexpected heroes. There will be moments of heartbreak and celebration. A fixture list does not decide who will lift the trophy in May, but it reveals the immediate hurdles.

Some journeys appear smoother than others. Others promise difficult tests from the very beginning. For supporters, however, every club starts with the same belief—that this could finally be their year.

Predictions will dominate conversations over the coming weeks. Fans will debate title contenders, surprise packages, and relegation candidates. But when the first whistle sounds in September, opinions will give way to performances.

The dates are now fixed. The countdown has begun. All that's left is football.
