The 2026/2027 EPL season kicks off on August 21st, 2026, at 19:00 GMT, with Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas Asante's Coventry facing current Premier League champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal managed to clinch the title in the 2025/2026 season under Mikel Arteta for the first time since their famous 2003/2004 Invincibles campaign.

Arteta, appointed in 2019, managed to come close to the title on three occasions before this recent triumph. Arsenal picked up the second position from the 2022/2023 to 2024/2025 seasons, narrowly missing out on the championship each time.

On the touchline for the returning visitors is Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. He has been very instrumental in Coventry's automatic promotion back to the Premier League after their relegation in the 2000/2001 season, following his appointment as manager in November 2024.

Mikel Arteta always knows how to handle Frank Lampard, the first manager he suffered defeat to as the boss of Arsenal. Arteta went on to win three of the five times they met during Lampard's stints as manager of Chelsea and Everton. Historically, Coventry has played against Arsenal in the Premier League 18 times, losing 11, winning 3, and drawing 4.

Heading into the new season, Brandon Thomas Asante has been superb for Coventry. During the 2025/2026 Championship campaign, the forward netted 13 goals and provided four assists in 32 matches.

The forward is now on national duty with the Black Stars of Ghana at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup across the USA, Mexico, and Canada. Having already played a crucial role in the goal that secured Ghana's opening victory against Panama, he is building serious momentum. A standout performance at the World Cup will provide the perfect platform for him to compete against the Premier League's best and solidify his starting spot in the Coventry lineup.
